Simulated X‐ray emission in galaxy clusters with feedback from active galactic nuclei

چکیده

To investigate the effect of feedback from active galactic nuclei (AGN) on their surrounding medium, we study diffuse X-ray emission galaxy groups and clusters by coupling Astrophysical Plasma Emission Code (APEC) with cosmological hydrodynamic simulation involving AGN feedback. We construct a statistical sample synthetic Chandra photon maps to observationally characterize ambient medium. show that are effective in displacing hot emitting gas centers clusters, these signatures remain evident observations surface brightness profiles.

Cosmological simulations of galaxy clusters with feedback from active galactic nuclei: profiles and scaling relations

We present results from a new set of 30 cosmological simulations of galaxy clusters, including the effects of radiative cooling, star formation, supernova feedback, black hole growth and AGN feedback. We first demonstrate that our AGN model is capable of reproducing the observed cluster pressure profile at redshift, z ≃ 0, once the AGN heating temperature of the targeted particles is made to sc...

Feedback in Active Galactic Nucleus Heating of Galaxy Clusters

One of the challenges that models of active galactic nucleus (AGN) heating of the intracluster medium (ICM) face is to explain how the mechanical luminosity of the AGN is tuned to the radiative losses of the ICM. Here we implement a simple one-dimensional model of a feedback mechanism that links the luminosity of the AGN to the accretion rate. We demonstrate how this simple feedback mechanism l...

Combining semianalytic models with simulations of galaxy clusters: The need for heating from active galactic nuclei

We present hydrodynamical N-body simulations of clusters of galaxies with feedback taken from semianalytic models of galaxy formation. The advantage of this technique is that the source of feedback in our simulations is a population of galaxies that closely resembles that found in the real universe. We demonstrate that, to achieve the high entropy levels found in clusters, active galactic nucle...

Active Galactic Nuclei and Massive Galaxy Cores

Self-consistent N-body simulations have been performed in order to study the effects of a central active galactic nucleus (AGN) on the dark matter profile of a typical giant elliptical galaxy. In our analysis, we assume that periodic bipolar outbursts from a central AGN can induce harmonic oscillatory motions on both sides of the gas core. Using realistic AGN properties, we find that the motion...

Gamma–Ray Emission from Active Galactic Nuclei – an Overview

Gamma-ray emission from AGN provides us with unprecedented insights into the physics of extragalactic jets. The emission from these jets fits naturally into the existing theoretical framework of relativistic jets as inferred from parsec scale and kiloparsec scale observations. Models of the γ-ray fluxes give us important knowledge of jet parameters, in particular magnetic fields and the size of...
